The Multidisciplinary Research of Education Report is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, publisher) are expected to adhere to practices that ensure the integrity, transparency, and validity of published research.
Below is the detailed policy:
1. Duties of Authors
a) Originality: Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, have not been published elsewhere in full or in part, and are not under consideration by another journal.
b) Accurate Reporting & Data Integrity: Authors must present accurate, complete, and honest records of their research. Any data, methodologies, or analyses must be represented truthfully. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data are strictly prohibited.
c) Proper Acknowledgement of Sources: All sources of information, previous works, or ideas used must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.
d) Authorship Criteria: All listed authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to conception/design, data acquisition or analysis, drafting or revising the manuscript, and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work. Any changes to authorship (addition, removal, order) must be approved by all authors.
e) Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose all financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that might influence their work or its interpretation. Also any funding sources must be clearly stated.
f) Corrections and Retractions: If authors discover errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they have an obligation to promptly inform the editor, and cooperate in correction or retraction where necessary.
2. Duties of Editors & the Editorial Board
a) Fair Review & Decision: Editors evaluate manuscripts strictly on the basis of intellectual merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and ethical compliance. No discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, or political beliefs.
b) Confidentiality: Editors must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents. Unpublished work should not be shared or used for personal benefit.
c) Ethical Oversight: Editors must ensure that the peer review process is fair, timely, and free of conflicts of interest. They should follow COPE or similar recognized guidelines in dealing with ethical issues, including possible misconduct.
d) Handling Misconduct: If allegations of misconduct arise (e.g. plagiarism, falsification, etc.), editors must investigate thoroughly and impartially. They should follow institutional policies and COPE guidelines to correct or retract work if needed.
3. Duties of Reviewers
a) Impartiality and Objectivity: Reviewers should assess manuscripts fairly, providing constructive feedback. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
b) Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of manuscript content and communication.
c) Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should declare any conflicts of interest before accepting a review, and decline or recuse themselves if conflict exists.
d) Timely Review: Reviews should be completed within established timeframes. If unable to meet deadline, reviewer should inform editor.
e) Constructive Feedback: Reviewers should provide detailed, evidence-based comments to help authors improve their manuscript. They should also highlight any missing references, errors, or possible overlaps with other published work.
4. Policy on Multiple / Redundant Publication & Plagiarism
a) Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is unethical and not permitted.
b) Re-publication of content already published (self-plagiarism or redundant publication) without proper citation or permission is not acceptable.
c) Manuscripts may be checked using similarity detection software. If similarity or overlap is found beyond acceptable thresholds, the manuscript may be rejected or require revision.
5. Handling Complaints & Appeals
a) Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. The journal should provide a mechanism to do so.
b) If mistakes are identified after publication (by authors, reviewers, readers), the journal will issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern, depending on severity.
6. Use of Ethics Guidelines & Best Practices
a) MRER refers to standards like those of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) for guidance.
b) The journal expects all parties to comply with international norms for research conduct, data management, transparency, and openness.
